A person was pronounced dead after an apparent stabbing at Shamel Park in Riverside on Tuesday, Feb. 19, according to the Riverside Police Department.

The Riverside Fire Department responded to the park at 3650 Arlington Ave. after someone found a person who appeared to have been assaulted.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Officer Ryan Railsback said. There was no immediate information on the victim’s identity or whether any arrests had been made.

The park has a pool, children’s playground, sports fields, tennis courts and picnic area/
