4 Huge Sporting Events Taking Place in the US During 2021

Ah, sports. Where would we be without it? It’s fun at almost any level, but things can be extra thrilling, exciting, and all-out fun when it comes to the peak level. If you’re looking for a trip to liven up your 2021, then you may just consider a trip to one of the major sporting events that’ll be taking place within the United States during 2021. Below, we outline some of the very best events that the sporting world has to offer. If you can snag yourself a ticket (or an invite, in the case of The Masters), then you won’t be disappointed.

4 Huge Sporting Events Taking Place in the US During 2021

The Super Bowl

The Super Bowl isn’t just a sporting event, it’s a force of nature. Somewhere in the region of 150 million people tune in to watch the event from around the world because they know that history will be made — and that there’ll be a pretty spectacular half-time show to enjoy, too. The Raymond James Stadium in Florida will host Super Bowl LV, the 55th to take place, on February 7. So who’s looking like they might take the glory? At the moment, it’s hard to look past current Super Bowl champions, The Kansas City Chiefs, especially since in Patrick Mahomes, they have the league’s best quarterback. And for those of you that are tuning in for the music, The Weeknd will provide the half-time show.

The Kentucky Derby

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a horseracing aficionado or a newcomer to the sport: everyone loves the Kentucky Derby. After all, how could you not? Taking place at the magnificent Churchill Downs race ground Louisville, Kentucky, this is a race that has produced plenty of iconic moments over the years. If you plan to attend, then be sure to get there well in advance of the big day (the Kentucky Derby Festival begins two weeks prior) and read up on some expert horse racing tips. Don’t forget to pack your best suit or dress for the occasion, too — it’s an event where people always dress to impress.

The Masters

There are many excellent golf tournaments that take place in the United States and across the world, but there’s just something extra special about the Masters that sets it apart from the rest. Perhaps it’s the delicious springtime air or the lush fairways of Augusta, the golf course that hosts the competition. Or it could be that there have been just so many memorable moments over the years, including Tiger Woods’ breakthrough and the final major victory for Jack Nicklaus at the age of 46. Because of all these things, it can be difficult to obtain tickets. You’ll have to enter yourself into the ticket lottery and hope that you’re picked. If you are, then you’ll have a chance to see Dustin Johnson defend the title he won for the first time in 2020.

The United States Grand Prix

The Grand Prix may not be the biggest racing event in the United States (The Indy 500 is bigger), but the race has been steadily making a name for itself in recent years. After years of false-starts and waning interest, it seems as if Formula One is here to stay in the United States. The numbers are undoubtedly impressive; some 270,000 people attended the 2019 Grand Prix in Austin, where the race has been held since 2012. Valtteri Bottas took pole position that time around. As with the Super Bowl, a big draw of the event is the non-sporting entertainment. In the past, superstars such as Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Bruno Mars have all performed. The 2021 Grand Prix is due to take place in Austin from October 22 – 24.
