5 reasons to get behind the wheel of our car of the year, the new Vauxhall Corsa-E

RECENTLY we chose the new Vauxhall Corsa-E as our Car of the Year in the Sun Motors Awards 2020 – and for good reason!

For decades the Corsa has been a hugely popular car, a familiar sight on our roads and one that many Brits will have driven at some point.

The all new Corsa was launched in 2019 and for the first time ever it offered an electric powertrain.

It’s guilt-free, cheap to run and has a range of up to 209 miles that comfortably suits most people.

After test-driving the car, Sun Motors editor, Rob Gill, said: “Good body control, direct steering, low centre of gravity, B mode for harsher braking regeneration. This thing is a lot of fun.”

There are loads of reasons why you should get behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa-E, and here’s our top five…

The impressive range

The Corsa-E can do up to an impressive 209 miles non-stop once it’s fully charged, which comfortably suits most drivers and most journeys.

Charge time from 30 minutes

Charge time for the car is from just 30 minutes* if you plug in to a public 100kw charger.

If you have a driveway and you choose to install a home charger, it will take you 7½ hours to fully charge your vehicle.

Save thousands in fuel and tax

Electric vehicles are usually more expensive than their traditional counterparts, but you will more than make that back over time with the money you save on fuel, road tax and maintenance.

The Corsa-E is fully electric, which means you don’t pay any road tax or congestion charge, and electric is much cheaper too, costing 3p a mile instead of 11p a mile for an equivalent petrol car (you can reduce the cost by charging overnight to benefit from off-peak energy rates).

A worry-free transition to electric mobility

Vauxhall is making your transition to electric mobility worry-free, with its free eight-year roadside assistance and battery warranty, and its home charging unit for just £299.

Fun to drive

The driving experience is smooth and refined. The Corsa-E offers a choice of driving modes. Select the Sport mode for maximum torque and acceleration (and maximum fun), while the Eco mode will maximise your range, and the Normal mode will give you a balance of performance and efficiency.

Make the most of the Government’s plug-in grant

Brand new low-emission vehicles are eligible for a grant of up to £3,000 from the Government.

You don’t even need to do anything to get this – if you want to buy a brand new EV, the dealer will automatically include the discount in the price.

The Corsa-E is £27,665, with finance from £299 a month. Click here to find out more and book a test drive.

* You can obtain 15-80 per cent of the vehicle charge in 30 minutes from a 100kW rapid charging station. Such stations are available across the UK and their power rating can vary between from 50kW and 350kW.
