1. Be flexible on your location

If you’re planning your overseas wedding on a tight budget, you’ll need to be a bit flexible when it comes to location.

Opting for a less popular location to tie the knot can save you money and could put a unique spin on your big day, as well as helping you avoid hordes of holidaymakers.

Invest some time researching prospective locations to see if you can find anything a little more off the beaten track.

2. Pick the cheapest time to fly

One of the best ways you can save money for both yourself and your guests is by picking a wedding date which correlates with lower flight prices.

Good weather isn’t guaranteed any time of the year, and picking an off-peak date could seriously reduce the cost of travel.

A mid-week wedding could also be considerably cheaper than a weekend wedding.

3. Save money on your currency transfers

If you’re getting married abroad you’ll need to transfer funds overseas to pay for things like the venue, catering and accommodation.

While you could use your bank to make these transfers, using a leading currency provider like TorFX could save you time and money.

With TorFX you’d be able to secure a more competitive exchange rate, making your money go further.

You’d also avoid the transfer fees charged by most banks and would have the option to arrange your transfers on-the-go 24/7 with their handy app.

4. Use a wedding planner

If you want to get the best deals and benefit from key insider knowledge you may want to consider paying for a local wedding planner.

While this may seem like a luxury in countries such as the UK, having a wedding planner with local insights and the ability to speak the native language could prove invaluable when arranging your overseas wedding.

A wedding planner will have better access to tried and tested vendors, can operate in the local time zone, will be able to haggle for you over price and will be able to eliminate a lot of the stress involved in planning an overseas wedding.

5. Get wedding insurance

While this might seem like an additional cost, it’s definitely better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your dream destination wedding

Hopefully, your day will go without a hitch, but if something were to go wrong wedding insurance can cushion the blow.

For a comparatively small cost, you can get cover for delayed travel, venue cancellations and more. This could potentially save you a lot of money and heartache.

Those are just a few simple tips that could help you save money when planning your dream overseas wedding!
