Aberg misses cut at RSM Classic – Texas Tech Red Raiders – TexasTech.com

SEA ISLAND, Georgia – Texas Tech junior Ludvig Aberg shot 2-under-par on Friday at The RSM Classic but missed the cut at even-par for his two rounds at the Sea Island Golf Club. Mito Pereira is at 5-under par through two rounds and currently 39th going into the third round on Saturday. The tournament is being televised on the Golf Channel. 

Aberg, who is at No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, shot 2-under on Friday after posting a 1-over 72 on Thursday. He earned his spot in this week’s PGA Tour event by winning the 2021 Jones Cup. He also competed in the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship in October. The cut line at The RSM was at 4-under after 36 holes of play.

Pereira is at 5-under (67-70) going into Saturday with a 9:47 a.m. tee time. A former Red Raider from the 2014-15 season, Pereira made six birdies in his second round. He is a rookie on the PGA Tour after earning a three-win promotion from the Korn Ferry Tour and also represented Chile during the Olympics.

Aberg and the No. 10-ranked Red Raiders will return to competition in February with their first tournament being the first week of the month in Hawaii. Tech finished as the runner-up in the Big 12 Match Play Tournament in its last fall tournament.
