Airtel signs 5G network deals with Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung


has signed 5G network agreements with Sweden’s Ericsson, Finland’s Nokia and South Korea’s Samsung to commence deployment of 5G networks from August 2022.

Managing director and chairman, Gopal Vittal said Airtel will commence rollout of 5G services in August.

“Our network agreements are finalized and Airtel will work with the best technology partners from across the world to deliver the full benefits of 5G connectivity to our consumers,” Vittal said.

Airtel will deploy 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions from the Ericsson Radio System and Ericsson microwave mobile transport solutions. The Swedish equipment maker will be providing 5G connectivity in 12 circles for .

The multi-year deal with Nokia will provide equipment from its AirScale portfolio along with solutions and services for network management, deployment, planning and optimisation services.

The company will also bring in South Korean major Samsung as a network partner for the first time to deploy 5G services.
