Amazon and Whole Foods Market Valentine's Day roses: Prime members get two dozen for $19.99


Amazon Prime members can get a sweet-smelling deal on sustainably sourced roses at Whole Foods Market for Valentine’s Day.

Through Friday, members of the online retail giant’s membership program, can get two dozen Whole Trade Guarantee roses for $19.99 while supplies last at Whole Foods stores nationwide.

Plus, in more than 2,000 cities and towns, Prime members can order the roses on Amazon.com with free two-hour delivery with a purchase of $35 or more.

Carol Medeiros, Whole Foods’ vice president of perishables support, said in a statement that the flowers are “making a positive impact in the communities where they are grown.”

Without a Prime membership, which costs $119 per year, non-members will pay $29.99 for the 24 roses.

According to the National Retail Federation’s annual Valentine’s Day survey, spending for the holiday is up.

The survey found that those celebrating said they plan to spend an average $196.31, up 21% over last year’s previous record of $161.96. Spending is expected to total $27.4 billion, up 32% from last year’s record $20.7 billion.

Valentine’s Day is one of the largest days of the year for the floral industry,. For cupid’s day, flower sales are estimated at $2.3 billion for 2020, up from $1.9 billion in 2019.

“Valentine’s Day is a sentimental tradition, but gift-giving can be driven by the economy,” Matthew Shay, the federation’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
