Apple Defeats Revived Class Suit Over Malware Weakness, Patches – Bloomberg Law

Owners of iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs failed to state fraud-based and other claims in a proposed class suit alleging that Apple Inc. hid the devices’ vulnerability to hacking and later addressed the problem in a way that slowed performance, a federal court in California ruled.

The opinion Wednesday marked the second time Judge Edward J. Davila of the US District Court for the Northern District of California threw out the suit.

Apple released software patches in 2018 in response to the Spectre and Meltdown chip processor security flaws that allowed cybercriminals access to sensitive user data.
