Asus to launch Zenfone 6 as 6Z tomorrow in India – here are the details

Asus is launching the 6Z tomorrow in India. It is the same flagship smartphone that was launched in international markets as Zenfone 6. The Taiwan-based company has decided to rebrand its device in India due to its ongoing trademark case. Aside from the rebranding, the 6Z is expected to come with the exact same specs as its global variant.

Asus 6Z was launched last month in Spain as Zenfone 6. The smartphone has been the talk-of-the-town due to its design that Asus claims to ‘defy the ordinary’.

It sports a 6.4-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 * 2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is no notch or a punch-hole on the display for the camera. Asus has instead opted for a dual rear camera setup that flips upwards and doubles as the front camera.

The on-paper impressive camera unit includes a primary 48MP f/1.79 Sony IMX 586 sensor and a 13MP 145-degree ultra-wide secondary camera. The camera unit can be flipped and used to take ultra-wide portraits which also focuses quicker with its laser focus system. The same camera can be used to take 4K 60fps videos at the front and back.

Under the hood, the 6Z gets powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage. It is currently unknown if Asus would make all these storage variants available in India or not. For power users, the 6Z comes packed with a beefy 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W QuickCharge 4.0 fast charging support. The device boots on Android 9.0 and is assured to get Android Q soon.

The 6z is expected to priced in India for Rs 40,000. Internationally, it has been priced EUR 499 (approximately Rs 39,100) for the 6GB + 64GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants were priced at EUR 559 (approximately Rs 43,800) and EUR 599 (approximately Rs 47,000) respectively. Subscribe to Moneycontrol Pro and gain access to curated markets data, exclusive trading recommendations, independent equity analysis, actionable investment ideas, nuanced takes on macro, corporate and policy actions, practical insights from market gurus and much more.
