Axis Balanced Advantage Fund completes seven years, offers 11% CAGR since inception


Axis Balanced Advantage Fund, an open-ended dynamic asset allocation fund, has completed seven years in the market and offered 10.70% CAGR since inception.

Launched in August 2017, the scheme has offered 13.51% CAGR in the last five years. In the last three years, it offered 12.88% CAGR. The scheme delivered 29.26% and 16.88% returns, respectively, in the last one-year and six-month horizons.

The scheme is benchmarked against Nifty 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50 Index and had an AUM of Rs 2,523 crore as on August 2024.

A monthly SIP of Rs 10,000 made into this fund since its inception would have been Rs 13.94 lakh with an XIRR of 13.71%. In the last five years, the value of Rs 10,000 SIP would have been Rs 9.03 lakh with an XIRR of 16.65%. In the last three-year period, the value would have been Rs 4.83 lakh with an XIRR of 20.60%.
The investment objective of the scheme is to achieve the dual objective of capital appreciation by investing in a portfolio of equity or equity-linked securities and generating income through investments in debt and money market instruments. For remaining investments, an exit load of 1% will be applicable. If redeemed/switched-out after 12 months from the date of allotment, the exit load will be nil.

If an investor had put in Rs 1 lakh in the fund at the time of its inception, the value would have been Rs 2.06 lakh with a CAGR of 10.69%. In the last five years and three years, the value of Rs 1 lakh would have been Rs 1.88 lakh (XIRR of 13.54%) and Rs 1.43 lakh (XIRR of 12.68%), respectively.
Based on yearly returns since the inception, the scheme has offered negative returns in 2022 only where it lost only 0.42%. In the last seven years, the fund offered the highest return in 2023 of around 19.97%.

The minimum application amount is Rs 100 and in multiples of Re 1 thereafter. There is no minimum redemption criterion.

The scheme allocates 0-100% in equity and equity-related securities, 0-100% in debt and money market instruments, and 0-10% in units issued by REITs & InvITs.
