BCAC.tv opens satellite studio in Oroville – Chico Enterprise-Record

OROVILLE — Thanks to some help from the African-American Family and Cultural Center, BCAC.tv has its first satellite studio.

The collaboration between the public access television station and Oroville nonprofit organization will aim to give video access to communities beyond Chico, allow people to tell their stories, share subjects of interest, cover local events and create community.

“In the few short weeks it has been open it has already given voice to seniors to tell their stories, help document events and give skills to the youth that can carry over in marketable job and life skills,” said Executive Director of the African-American Family and Cultural Center Bobby Jones, in a news release Friday. “We are grateful for this opportunity to better serve the community and look forward to bring video skills to those who want them.”

According to the release, the development of a satellite studio has been discussed for years.

The studio will be part of the African-American Family and Cultural Center facility, located at 3300 Spencer Ave. in Oroville.

While the center provides office space and staffing, BCAC.tv supplies computers, video, audio and mobile equipment, editing software and education and consultation. The content created will be available on the center’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, website and broadcast on BCAC.tv, Comcast Channel 11.

Started in 2013, BCAC.tv is located at 500 Main St., No. 150 in Chico, and can be reached by calling 520-4742 or emailing raylaager@juno.com.
