American beauty brand Bath & Body Works, known for its body care and home products, has launched its online store in India. The 4 billion dollar brand had opened seven retail outlets across Delhi, Mumbai and recently Chennai since its entry in July 2018 in partnership with franchisee retailer Major Brands (India). The e-store will sell collections of body lotions, soaps and fragrances retailed at their brick-and-mortar outlets.

Growing awareness from Tier 2 and 3 cities drove the franchisee company to launch the digital platform and expand reach through omni channel presence. “We witnessed strong growth potential in the online space and decided to offer a digital shopping experience to customers especially with a focus to cater to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. We aim to reach out to 10 million customers in the coming years,” said Tushar Ved, president of Major Brands.

Fellow mall brand The Body Shop is one of the main competitors for the beauty brand. With the e-store Bath and Body Works will service close to 19000 pin codes now including cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

Major Brands, which has been in India since 2001, also retails international fashion and lifestyle product companies such as Aldo, Charles & Keith, La Senza and Inglot. The retailer has reportedly invested Rs 400 crore so far to set up 160 stores of its repertoire of brands in the country.
