The panel comprising different IT sector experts will judge their ideas on various parameters such as societal impact, potential of employment generation including the capital investment required to implement the idea in the state.

SuMo said software technology parks would come up at Darbhanga and Bhagalpur in the coming years. “The software park at Pataliputra Colony will be expanded to host more IT sector entrepreneurs. Besides, the state government has started incubation centres at IIT-Patna and BIT-Patna for capacity building of new IT sector startups in Bihar,” he said and added: “We are trying to influence young IT sector entrepreneurs from Bihar to come up with their ideas and run their startups in the state.”

The deputy CM also holds the portfolio of state IT minister. The event has been organized by state IT department in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

State IT department principal secretary Rahul Singh said the objective behind organizing the event was to create an IT sector startup ecosystem in Bihar. “Total 36 startups working in IT sector are participating in the event. They will demonstrate their ideas before the jury comprising IT sector experts, angel investors and venture capitalists. We hope their innovative ideas will transform the IT industry in the state,” Singh said.

The entrepreneurs from different domains, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, education, agriculture and transport, showcased their ideas on the first day. State IT department will felicitate three startups for best ideas. The prizes will be given to five startups on Tuesday.

Microsoft country head Manish Prakash said, “Bihar is rich in human resource. A lot of people from the state can find jobs in IT sector. The government is on the right path as it wants to build an active and thriving startup ecosystem in Bihar.”

Ajay Tripathi, a young entrepreneur stationed in Haryana, said his firm provided security solutions for passenger vehicles. “We offer sensor-based solution to prevent vehicles colliding with each other when visibility is poor on roads in winter season,” he said.

Devash Jha, who operates his startup from Maharashtra, said, “There is a big opportunity for robotics in agriculture.
