Local blockchain start-up Tari Labs has introduced a free online university that offers courses in blockchain, digital currency and digital assets.

Tari Labs is a contributor to the South African-based blockchain protocol Tari, aimed at providing open source solutions to challenges in the digital asset management space.

Tari was launched earlier this year by local blockchain expert and Monero promoter, Riccardo Spagni, in partnership with American investors, Naiveen Jain and Dan Teree.

The new learning platform, Tari Labs University, hopes to ease the growing shortage of skilled blockchain and open source developers, by making training accessible to local and international blockchain developers.

Senior contributor Cayle Sharrock explains: “The more blockchain experts we can help develop, the better it is for the ecosystem as a whole. From the start, Tari Labs has been all about giving talented people the chance to develop their abilities. Tari Labs University is a natural next step in sharing knowledge and learning from the community in turn.”

Tari Labs University is an open source, curated set of materials developed by the Tari community to help facilitate knowledge transfer and education, providing online expertise in cryptography, computer science, economics, game theory, psychology, business, legal, marketing and politics, from beginner to advanced level. It is free to use and is highly collaborative.

It will play an important role in upskilling potential candidates and developers who are interested in joining the development team, which is based in Johannesburg, adds Sharrock.

“As with any open source project, we see the learning materials as living or ever-evolving. The bigger picture here is to assist in constructing an ecosystem for developers and enable them to leverage the Tari protocol. We’re ultimately part of a network, and the more participants it has, the more successful it will be.”

The team is stewarding what it calls “the most” useful decentralised platform that aims to allow people to manage and transfer digital assets with more flexibility, enabling the breakdown of industry-specific silos in which businesses operate.

“Our goal is to make digital assets easier for businesses and consumers to issue, manage, transfer and use. To do this, we are building a team that is committed to a culture that values transparency, diversity, collaboration, and understands the integral role each contributor plays in the success of the Tari ecosystem.”
