Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the added 0.44% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:), which rose 7.33% or 2.52 points to trade at 36.89 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:) added 5.23% or 1.53 points to end at 30.78 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:) was up 4.96% or 1.60 points to 33.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:), which lost 5.62% or 2.17 points to trade at 36.43 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:) declined 4.09% or 2.09 points to end at 49.00 and BRF SA (SA:) shed 3.98% or 0.89 points to 21.49.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 257 to 171 and 31 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.08% to 36.20.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.91% or 11.70 to $1295.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.10% or 0.51 to hit $47.05 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 2.71% or 2.70 to trade at $102.20 .
USD/BRL was down 0.86% to 3.7572, while EUR/BRL fell 0.35% to 4.2834.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 95.797.
