GLASTONBURY should be in full swing – but without it festival lovers are creating their own vibes.
Music fans who would be there or enjoying it on the telly or radio are doing what they can for their own Glast-home-bury or Garden-bury. Here are a few gadgets to enjoy some summer sounds – including three speakers for all pockets – and to keep cool.
LEARN GUITAR LICKS
MAKE your own music with the top guitar learning app. Two weeks free, then £9.99 a month. It now has Beatles songs, so those missing Paul McCartney at Glasto can play along themselves.
MAKE YOUR OWN LICKS
A FULL-SIZE but bargain version of the most famous guitar of all time. Ideal for beginners. Need an amp? Argos does it with amp and accessories for £209.99.
END BATTERY WORRIES
DON’T worry about going inside to recharge while you use your phone in the garden. This has wireless charging and a digital indicator shows the power you have left.
COOL YOUR FOOD AND DRINK
SAVE time going inside for a cold beer. The pull-along handle also doubles as cricket stumps, and the big wheels are handy if you take it to the park. It has drink holders and a 33-litre capacity.
LUXURY ICE CREAM MAKER
MAKES frozen yoghurt, sorbet, ice cream and gelato. Turn it on and leave it – since it monitors consistency and plays an ice-cream van tune when ready. Can keep cold for three hours.
BARGAIN ICE CREAM MAKER
PLACE the bowl in the freezer for eight hours before use. Then pour in ingredients and turn on the paddle mixer. Get anything from mint choc chip to frozen yoghurt. Sprinkle in nuts part way through.
STAY OUT OF THE SUN
AVOID sunburn and, thanks to its waterproof material, have a place to shelter when the heatwave disappears and the rain returns. Add solar-powered LED lights to brighten things up when you relax at night. Measures 2.7m across.
SUMMER brings sun, barbecues – and bugs. Protects by creating a “protection zone” five metres around it. It fills the air with a repellant that keeps insects away.
A STAKE holds it securely in the ground for 360-degree sound. The eight-hour battery is enough for a day of acts on your own Pyramid stage. It is also waterproof. Pair two for stereo sound.
ROCK OUT SPEAKER
YOU might not get to hear Paul McCartney wailing through his Marshall stacks but you can blast his latest through this 5.5lb portable Bluetooth speaker from the legendary guitar amp maker. Plus, you can keep your rock-star cred even after festival season is over.
PORTABLE speaker from the firm that invented multi-room wireless speakers. Works over wifi with other Sonos devices – so have your Glasto set playing in the garden and inside when you pop in for the loo. New white colour out soon.
SMALLER version from the firm that reinvented fans. Has pinpoint control of air direction. Come in from a long day at your Garden-bury festival and keep cool as you sleep. You can also use it while working from home.
