CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A shooting in broad daylight Sunday along a busy Charlotte freeway leaves investigators searching for the person they say fired the shots.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, there was a confrontation between a male victim and a male suspect at a gas station at 5:50 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The victim left the gas station in the car and was followed by the suspect onto Interstate 85.
CMPD says the suspect shot at the victim’s vehicle while both were on I-85 nearing the Beatties Ford Road Exit. The victim’s vehicle was hit multiple times, but he escaped uninjured.
At the same time, a woman driving northbound on I-85 had her windows shot out as a result of this incident. She had two children with her in the car at the time, but CMPD says there was no injury to her or her children.
Police say no arrests have been made yet in the case.
The first victim, however, tells Eyewitness News reporter Briana Harper that he’s hopeful that surveillance video taken at a gas station on Statesville Road — where the incident began – will help police make a quick arrest.
