The 2021 season will be intriguing and record-breaking as well. It will be the year that major tennis players can achieve some major milestones. What is most fascinating is that World No.2 Rafael Nadal will be chasing to surpass Roger Federer’s records this season.

The Federer–Nadal rivalry is considered to be one of the greatest rivalries of all time. It is between professional tennis players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, widely regarded as two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Federer and Nadal have gone head-to-head 40 times, with Nadal leading 24–16 from the latest tennis odds.

In the title war, Rafael Nadal is tied with Roger Federer as the two tennis greats have won 20 major titles each. Federer won a Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2018 and the 39-year-old has not played on the tour since last year’s Australian Open. He was expected to make a return to Australia, but he postponed his plans as he is still recovering from knee surgery.

Nadal on the other hand is getting ready for the Australian Open, starting February 8 before which, he will be in action in the ATP Cup in Melbourne. Nadal is geared up to surpass Federer’s record in 2021.

If he wins any Grand Slam title, it will be the first time that he’ll surpass Federer and become the player with most Grand Slam titles in the history of men’s tennis with 21 titles.

The Spaniard has been in really good form, having extended his French Open winning streak last year. It would seem the odds of getting the title are in his favor.

Here’s what he told CNN, “I did much more than what I ever dreamed in my tennis career. It would be amazing for me to win one more. But I know that will not be the key for my happiness in the future. It’s not extra pressure and it’s not an obsession,” 

He concluded with this statement “I keep going, doing it my way. If it happens, fantastic, but if not, I’m more than happy about everything that happened to me.”

With the absence of the Swiss, Nadal and Novak Djokovic battle to go down as the greatest of all time as they aim to surpass Roger Federer’s record.

Novak Djokovic seeks to quickly close in on Federer’s record for consecutive weeks (310) at the top of the pedestal while Nadal looks to recapture the World No.1 spot from Djokovic.

Despite the rivalry between Federer and Nadal, they have a good relationship and a lot of respect for each other. The camaraderie between the two has been evident over the years despite the numerous on-field battles. The last time they played each other was at Wimbledon where Federer defeated Nadal in 4 sets. After missing a whole year of tennis, Federer will be hoping to prove he can still tangle with the top stars as he approaches
