The biggest gainers of the session on the were Aphria Inc (TO:), which rose 15.20% or 2.640 points to trade at 20.010 at the close. Pretium Resources Inc. (TO:) added 6.60% or 0.62 points to end at 10.01 and Parkland Fuel Corporation (TO:) was up 5.00% or 2.11 points to 44.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SNC-Lavalin Group Inc . (TO:), which lost 13.48% or 6.99 points to trade at 44.86 in late trade. Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (TO:) declined 9.76% or 0.280 points to end at 2.590 and Canada Goose Holdings Inc (TO:) shed 8.44% or 5.81 points to 62.99.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 856 to 277 and 113 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 15.94% to 16.80 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 5.70 to $1197.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.85% or 2.14 to hit $72.82 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.67% or 2.27 to trade at $82.73 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.73% to 0.7667, while CAD/EUR fell 1.01% to 0.6652.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 95.19.
