CBD Capsules or Softgels: What is the Best Way of Adding CBD to Your Daily Supplements

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is all the rage at the moment. This should not come as a surprise, since the substance has been credited with a whole range of benefits. Nevertheless, with so many different CBD products on the market, including tablets, liquids, softgels, capsules and tinctures, it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you. Perhaps one of the areas that causes the most confusion is whether to opt for CBD in a capsule or softgel form. This quick guide will help you to understand the difference between the two.

What is a CBD Capsule?

A capsule is a round or cylindrical container that is made up of two overlapping pieces that usually contain a liquid, powder or jelly. Capsules, such as CBD capsules of Nordic, usually have a neutral flavor and are relatively easy to swallow. Nevertheless, depending on the seal, there is a possibility of experiencing some odor or taste.

What is a CBD Softgel?

As opposed to a capsule, a softgel (gelcaps) is a one-piece container, which is often made from gelatin mixed with sorbitol or glycerin. Softgels may be vegan or not, so be sure to read the packaging if this is important to you. Just like capsules, softgels are neutral in flavor and very easy to swallow.

So What are the Differences?

Other than the outer casing, there is very little difference between CBD capsules and CBD softgels. Nevertheless, there are some:

  • CBD capsules are filled with either CBD oil or powder, whereas softgels usually contain CBD oil.
  • Softgels have a smoother shape and feel than capsules. As such softgels can be easier to swallow.
  • Since softgels are sealed, they are airtight and have a longer shelf life than capsules.
  • Softgels are usually more expensive than capsules.
  • CBD capsules sometimes contain other ingredients, such as magnesium oxide, calcium citrate, black seed oil and l-theanine.

While there are some differences between CBD capsules and softgels, both are great ways of adding CBD to your daily supplements. The choice is yours.
