COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – Denmark’s government expects a balanced budget this year and a surplus in 2019, according to revised forecasts in an Economy Ministry report seen by Reuters.
The latest 2018 estimate compares with a forecast of a deficit equal to 0.5 percent of GDP made in May. The expected 2019 balance has been revised to a surplus of 0.4 percent of GDP from a deficit of 0.5 percent in May.
In the report, expected to be released on Thursday, the government slightly lowered its forecast for GDP growth this year to 1.8 percent from an earlier estimate of 1.9 percent.
Next year, it also sees the economy growing 1.8 percent, compared with its previous estimate of 1.7 percent.
