Del Taco takes a swing at Taco Bell with competing World Series free taco deal Wednesday

Taco fans, Wednesday is your lucky day.

Not only is Taco Bell giving away free tacos with its “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” World Series promotion, so is California-based Del Taco.

But similar to the banter between chicken chains in this summer’s Chicken Sandwich War, Del Taco took a swing at Taco Bell’s freebie, which is available from 2 to 6 p.m. local time in restaurants. It’s also available all day for consumers who order ahead with the app or website.

Del Taco said its Wednesday offer will be available all day and night at participating locations so there’s “no need to wait ’til the afternoon for a free taco.”

Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner prompted Taco Bell’s giveaway when he stole second base in the first inning of Game 1 of the series.

To get Del Taco’s free taco, you’ll need the restaurant’s Del App and will receive an in-app coupon redeemable for your choice of the Del Taco, the Beyond Taco or the Beyond Avocado Taco. Download the app at www.deltaco.com/app.

No purchase is necessary with either taco chains’ offers, which are available ahead of Halloween, a day which offers its own array of freebies and deals like Chipotle’s $4 Boorito for wearing a costume.
