Delhi Police has arrested three people including a fake auto driver for stealing mobile phones, gold chains after knocking victims unconscious. The group would first strangle the victims from behind until they would pass out. The group would then steal the victims’ belongings and flee the spot in the auto.

New Delhi DSP Madhur Verma said that on the evening of June 15, a man came to the Police Station Mandir Marg to file a complaint of theft.

In his complaint, the man told ASI Rajbeer Singh that some people who were travelling in an auto stole his belongings.

Following which, ASI Rajbeer Singh followed the said auto in another auto for one kilometre. While the accused Mithilesh and Pravesh managed to escape, the fake auto driver Vakeel was arrested.

Later, the other two accused were also arrested by the Delhi police.

During interrogation, Mithilesh revealed that he used to work at the GB Road as a pimp and Pravesh also worked with him. Together, they used to plan and steal from people.

The fake auto driver, Vakeel, would wear the driver’s uniform and Mithilesh and Pravesh would sit in the back. As soon as they would spot someone with an expensive phone in their hand on a desolate road, they would get out of the auto and follow the victim.

They would then attack the victim from behind and strangle him until he or she would faint. After which they would collect their belongings and flee from the spot.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
