Electric Works boosting entrepreneurs during ‘Tech Tour’ Oct. 17-19

Consistent with its goal of becoming a hub of innovation and urban and economic renewal, Electric Works will bring noted venture capitalist Paul Singh and the Results Junkies to Fort Wayne for Tech Tour 2018, October 17-19.

Tech Tour is a collaborative event with Start Fort Wayne for the inaugural Fort Wayne Startup Week, a catalyst for a new wave of start-up activity in the region. Singh and his team boost buzz within the angel investor and venture capitalist networks who are looking at Fort Wayne and northeast Indiana for possible investments, according to Crystal Vann Wallstrom, managing director of innovation at Electric Works.

“The real goal of the Tech Tour is to bring functional expertise and venture capital dollars to parts of North America that don’t regularly get the same amount of attention as the well-known tech hubs,” Singh said in a statement. Singh is former managing director at the Philadelphia-based 1776 Seed Feed.

“Fort Wayne’s startup community is on the upward swing. As our programming indicates, Electric Works is all-in, and we are doing everything we can to nurture the region’s emerging and existing founder and startup community,” Vann Wallstrom stated. “Singh’s visit to Fort Wayne will support our founders by providing expert advice on how to start and grow their businesses, connect them to a national network of other startups and investors, and signal to nascent and unaware investors that northeast Indiana is on the move.”

The schedule features events with Singh and his Results Junkies partners, Dana Duncan and Ed Pizzarello, including a keynote talk, an angel and venture capitalist investor event, two full days of “office hours” with regional startups, interaction with founders and college students and and educational workshops.

During his first visit to Fort Wayne sponsored by Indiana Tech in October 2016, Singh met with 21 different companies, spoke to approximately 750 people, met with civic leaders, academics, entrepreneurs and the investment community, and culminated the tour with a pitch competition with five startups.

Before his work with 1776, Singh was the founder of Disruption Corporation and general partner of Disruption’s post-seed venture capital arm, Crystal Tech Fund. Before that, Singh was a Partner at 500 Startups, an accelerator and venture firm headquartered in Silicon Valley that has invested in more than 1,900 companies in more than 50 countries.

Duncan, an entrepreneur, investor, and partner at Results Junkies, previously was the head of operations and special projects at Disruption Corp. Prior to that, she was on the early team at The Iron Yard and WeddingWire.
