Elon Musk Haazir Ho! These Men Want You

In much less of a summon, and much more of a scramble to catch his eye, three ministers of three state governments have cranked up their seductive charms after Elon Musk replied on Twitter recently to a question on when Tesla will launch in India, ‘Still working through a lot of challenges with the government.’ With little attempt to showcase wooer’s reticence, West Bengal’s Mohammad Ghulam Rabbani, Telangana’s K T Rama Rao and Maharashtra’s Jayant Patil seem a wee bit like three stepsisters of Cinderella trying desperately to grab Prince Charming’s attention – and fit the Tesla glass slipper size.

What is interesting about the ministerial siren tweets is that apart from Rao, who is industry and commerce minister, Rabbani and Patil, holding minority affairs and water resources portfolios respectively, seem pure Musk fanboys. The moment Musk made ‘a lot of challenges’ with GoI public, the gentlemen strutted their stuff, Rao even addressing his objet du desir with a ‘Hey Elon…’ and Rabbani with a ‘Drop here’ (sic), both pitching their states, the latter adding that ‘our leader… has got the vision’. Whether Musk responds to this version of a bride catalogue is too early to say. But in terms of hope and confidence, the offers made by the tantalising three could be tempting – for Fate, if not Musk.
