Ethical hacker security startup Lightspin emerges from stealth with $4 million seed round –

Israeli cloud security startup Lightspin has launched after closing a $4 million seed round. The financing round was led by Ibex Investors with some participation from angel investors.

The SaaS platform specifically protects cloud native, Kubernetes and microservices from known and unknown risks. Founded by former ‘white hat’ hackers, Lightspin’s technology uses graph-based tools and algorithms to provide rapid, in-depth visualisation of the cloud stack, analyse potential attack paths and detect the root causes. True to the ethical hacking way, the startup says it uses an attacker’s approach to proactively identify and map potential routes and weak spots.

“Having worked with CISOs and cloud owners from numerous global companies, we know that existing solutions do not address the full scope of security challenges for dynamic, modern cloud and Kubernetes environments,” said CEO Vladi Sandler. “Based on our experience in attacking cloud infrastructure, we understand how attackers think, which is our superpower.”

Sandler founded the company along with Or Azarzar, the CTO. They say the technology is already in use at multiple Fortune 500 companies, and 20 pilots are currently running at global organizations.
