Vermonters like local. And they like grub. The hard part comes when the local grub spots close their doors for good.
A Facebook user posed a challenge in the “I grew up in Vermont!” group, asking people to remember an eatery; specifically, a “favorite local place to grab a bite to eat that is no longer around but you still crave.” The request, posted March 7, generated hundreds of comments from Facebook users eager to chime in with their top spots.
Here’s a couple that made the cut. See if you recognize any (and if you agree with the aforementioned picks).

Some names thrown out in the list of eateries that are reportedly closed in the Green Mountain State include:
- Libby’s Blue Line Diner.
- Candlepin Restaurant.
- Horn of the Moon Cafe.
- Dog Team Tavern.
- Tortilla Flat.
- Sirloin Saloon.
- Pizza in the Valley.
- Carbur’s Restaurant.
