Finalists Announced for ESTnetNG Tech Prize – Business News Wales


The finalists for this year’s ESTnetNG Tech Prize have been revealed, with the winner to be crowned at the Wales Technology Awards 2019 ceremony to be held on 20th June at City Hall, Cardiff.

With a record number of entries received for this year’s awards, table space at the Wales Technology Awards 2019 is limited. With less than a month until the evening ceremony, be sure to reserve your place today to avoid disappointment.

Guests in attendance at the evening ceremony on 20th June will see the crowning of this year’s winner of the ESTnetNG Tech Prize, which recognises and helps young people who have shown outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and interest in the technology field fulfil their talent and ambition.

This year’s deserving ESTnetNG Tech Prize finalists are;

Cameron Edwards, Dragon Aerospace
Cameron Edwards aims to reduce the cost of hobby rocketry whilst making advancements in the availability of parts.

Chloe Hewitt, Cardiff University
Chloe Hewitt’s proposal is a system where satellite data, radar and business registry information can be used by councils to identify disused buildings.

Elliot Williams, Cloeg Y Cymoedd 
Elliot Williams’ entry is CAID – a small robotic assistant and companion featuring facial recognition, object detection and artificial intelligence.

In addition to shining a light on the achievements of Wales’ new tech talent, the ESTnetNG Tech Prize also helps the winner develop their career in technology through a £2,000 prize.

The prize money will go towards
• Bringing to life an idea that the winner has for new technology product.
• Contribute to the cost of an event or course that will enable the young person to pursue and enhance their learning.
• Help to grow a tech-related business that the winner has already started.

Voting for this year’s winner will take place through the official Wales Technology Awards 2019 app, available free on Apple app store and Google Play.

The official app contains all the information you and your guests need for the awards including the ability to book tickets, information on the shortlist and partners, the ability to vote on the ESTnetNG Tech Prize and other features specifically designed to enhance your evening.
