Financial tech firm Blucora is moving its headquarters to a new building in Cypress Waters – Dallas News

Blucora, which plans to consolidate two local offices in Cypress Waters, will move in next year.

“We reviewed potential headquarters locations across the D-FW Metroplex to accommodate our rapid growth and enhance our employees’ overall work environment,” Blucora’s CFO, Davinder Athwal, said in a statement. “In Cypress Waters, we found an amenity-rich and well-situated location that offers our employees an office experience they will enjoy every day.”

Blucora’s head office is in the Las Colinas Corporate Center at 6333 State Highway 161 in Irving.

The firm moved its headquarters from the Seattle area to Texas in 2017.

In March, it announced that it was buying Dallas wealth management firm 1st Global Inc. for $180 million. Blucora had about 530 employees before the 1st Global acquisition.

1st Global has its office on Merit Drive near U.S. Highway 75 in North Dallas.

Blucora operates HD Vest, the tax-focused broker-dealer with $42 billion in total client assets, and TaxAct, the tax preparation software provider with 4 million consumer and professional users.

Blucora is just the latest in a steady stream of North Texas businesses that have moved to Cypress Waters for new office space.

More than 14,000 people now work in Cypress Waters at companies including Nokia, CoreLogic, 7-Eleven, Nationstar Mortgage, Signet Jewelers, Brinker International, Toyota Industries Commercial Finance, BT America and Constellation Brands.

“With all the activity at Cypress Waters, Billingsley is breaking ground on two more 201,000-square-foot speculative buildings this month,” Billingsley senior vice president Marijke Lantz said. “These are next door to the Signet Jewelers and Smoothie King campus and will feature a fitness center and large conference facility with patios on every floor overlooking a shared courtyard.”

Billingsley also recently disclosed that the developer is looking at plans for its first high-rise office project at Cypress Waters, which would overlook North Lake.

Blucora’s new lease was negotiated by Randy Cooper, Craig Wilson, Kate Sudol and Wills Bauer with Cushman & Wakefield with Billingsley’s Lantz.

Billingsley Co. bought the land for Cypress Waters 15 years ago. Plans for the project call for 8.5 million square feet of offices, 450,000 square feet of retail space and over 10,000 residences.
