Glasgow-based Sam Bennett has been promoted to operations director in a management shake-up at language services provider The Translation People.
The changes come after directors Steve Wilde and David Nichols decided to take a more strategic role as the company expands overseas.
Bennett previously managed the Glasgow office and worked as the company’s quality assurance manager.
Jasmin Schneider has been promoted from operations director to succeed Wilde as managing director at the Manchester-based firm.
Steve Holden has been promoted from financial controller to the new role of finance director in a management team which also includes business development director Alan White.
Wilde and Nichols established The Translation People in 2007 and have built a £5.8 million-turnover business with 40 staff and a client base in more than 60 countries.
They aim to double the size of the business within five years through organic growth and acquisitions in the UK and overseas of translation providers, and those offering complementary services.
The company has its headquarters in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, and operates from three other UK locations with offices also in France, Germany and the United States.
It expanded last year with the acquisition of Cicero Translations in Tunbridge Wells and the opening of a second German office in Munich.
Wilde said: “Over the past year or so we have successfully integrated the new Cicero business and laid the foundation for further growth in Germany with the opening of our Munich office.
“David and I felt the time was now right to devolve the day-to-day running of the business to focus more on our strategic direction and the search for further suitable acquisitions.”
The Translation People’s turnover grew nearly 14% in 2018 from £5.1 million to to £5.8 million and growth has continued this year, with the addition of more than 200 new clients in sectors including automotive, engineering, insurance and software.
Its client base ranges from small businesses and government departments to multi-national corporations. It provides translation services in almost 300 language combinations.
