Halloween 2019: Why not rent a car to match your costume?

There are levels to being a Halloween fanatic.

There are those who dress up and go to a theme party. There are those who deck out their front lawns just for the occasion and there are those who go all out, showing their appreciation for the holiday by putting their car it the center of the action.

You could try the DIY car costuming method, which we outlined last year. Or you could skip the scissors and construction paper by choosing a car-sharing option that’s already prepared for October 31.

The peer-to-peer car-sharing company Turo rolled out a slate of cars you can book and pair with your costume ahead of the annual holiday.

“The car is often an overlooked accessory to truly bring a Halloween costume to life,” said Christin DiScipio, a travel trends expert at Turo.

The company is renting out a replica of the Mystery Machine from “Scooby-Doo” for $99 a day.  A Cadillac modeled after the iconic “Ghostbusters” ride is going for $292 a day. And the Delorean DMC-12, made famous by “Back to the Future” can be yours for $222 per day.

To book a car, you can sign up through Facebook, Google or with your email address. Once the company confirms your identity, you can choose from a selection of unique cars in your area.

Next, you meet the car owner to pick up the vehicle or the owner may offer delivery. At the end of your trip, replace the gas you used and drop the car off to its owner.
