Hot dog, hamburger buns sold at Walmart, Target, Publix and other stores recalled

A national baked foods company is voluntarily recalling popular products found in many homes, especially this time of year.

Flowers Foods, Inc. out of Thomasville, Georgia, is voluntarily recalling hamburger and hot dog buns and other baked products due to the potential presence of small pieces of hard plastic that may have been introduced during production, according to a release issued by the company. The plastic pieces could pose a choking hazard.

The recalled products were distributed under a variety of names to retailers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

Anyone who has purchased items on the voluntary recall list is advised by the company to either discard or return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund.
