Hudson O’Neal to pilot PCC Motorsports startup – Racing News

A new dirt late model team is set to make their debut at Florence Speedway

At the end of the 2019 season, SSI Motorsports shut down their dirt late model team. That sent Hudson O’Neal on the search for a new ride.

Don O’Neal, who was also out of a ride, began discussions with MasterSbilt Race Cars who were interested in starting a house car. Those discussions led to a full-time ride for Hudson O’Neal and a part-tire ride for Don O’Neal.

The new operation set sights on the full Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour.

Three weeks ago, MasterSbilt and Hudson O’Neal parted ways. The shift came just after the Show-Me 100, where Hudson O’Neal failed to make the show.

O’Neal has now only missed two Lucas races, both of which were hosted at I-80 Speedway. Now, he’s ready to return…

PCC Motorsports signs Hudson O’Neal

Now, a brand new dirt late model team is on the way. PCC Motorsports is an upstart team out of Indiana.

Professional Concrete Cutting & Drilling LLC was a major sponsor of MasterSbilt house car program while O’Neal was the pilot. Now, they have broken off to start their own organization.

The new team is owned by Craig and Shannon Sims out of Columbus, Indiana.

Per a team release, “Hudson, who is dating the Sims’ daughter Tessa, will pilot a brand-new XR1 Rocket Chassis for PCC Motorsports with a potent Cornett Racing Engine underneath the hood.”

The tentative plans are to debut the new car on Wednesday at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. However, the team is still awaiting parts to complete their setup.

The new team will field a red, white and blue #71.

Hudson O’Neal comments

“As many have been asking what our plans are. I am very excited to announce that I will be driving for PCC Motorsports (Professional Concrete Cutting & Drilling LLC) for the remainder of the season,” O’Neal stated via social media.

“It’s been a lot of work trying to form this new team! PCC Motorsports will be fielding an XR1 with a Cornett Engine power plant! As I am still looking for a full time deal for next year, I will continue driving for PCC Motorsports for certain events throughout the next years to come.”

“It’s going to be an awesome partnership that we hope will bring a ton of success! Craig Sims and Shannon Sims has cut no corners in any of these stages! As of now we are planning on being at Florence Speedway for the North South 100.”

O’Neal added, “Please understand that this could change with us struggling with receiving parts on time due to COVID. We have a lot of great sponsors that have came on board along with many that stuck with us! We can’t thank all our sponsors and fans enough for all the support.”
