Hundreds attend UW-Stout science and technology convention – WQOW TV News 18

Menomonie (WQOW) – Hundreds of students and faculty from across the University of Wisconsin System are heading to UW-Stout for a scientific innovation and research convention.

This year marks the 12th annual Wisconsin Science and Technology Symposium in Menomonie. It runs Monday and Tuesday and organizers say it’s the biggest one yet.

Over 200 students and faculty have traveled to present their original research or to network and attend panels with Wisconsin researchers and innovators.

“It showcases that great ideas can come from anywhere in the state, that we have excellent University of Wisconsin institutions like University of Wisconsin-Stout all over the state and that the students and faculty are just as competitive as anybody else,” said WiSys President Arjun Sanga.

“I like a lot of the science lab-based stuff and that side of research, but I also like being interested in the business side of research as well and what goes on beyond the lab,” added UW-Plateville student Colton Lysaker.

Any student can attend for free or apply to present. Topics range from bio-medicine to app development.
