PUNE: United Kingdom headquartered Jet2 Travel Technologies (J2TT) said today that it has opened a new software development centre in Pune. The centre will service Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, which are the UK’s third-largest airline and second-largest tour operator, respectively. The Software Development Centre would be powered by Dataction Analytics, it said.

The company plans to hire 300 people to expand its tech team in India. Kevin Judge, IT development head, Jet2 Travel Technologies said, “The IT talent pool in India is astounding. We will put together a strong technology team here to deliver the very best user experience to our all-important customers whether that be via mobile app, mobile site or desktop. The Indian team would also have a great opportunity to work alongside our UK colleagues to get some unique international exposure. We are looking at hiring around 300 technical staff in our Pune VCC in the coming years.”

The India centre will work in collaboration with other centres in Leeds and Sheffield in UK and assist Jet2 in delivering innovative and industry-leading products with scale, experience, competitiveness and a customer-focused approach, said the company in a press release.

Saurabh Limaye, Managing Director at J2TT India and CEO of Dataction Analytics said, “VCC enables companies to reduce risks and gain access to top talent while reducing costs. This working model is gaining popularity in India because of the depth and breadth of technical expertise available in the country. The Indian government is also pushing for more VCCs to be setup as that helps in increasing employment opportunities. We have a long-standing professional relationship with Jet2 and this VCC setup in Pune will only help propel the engagement forward as far as technology and innovation is concerned.”
