Landmark city office's developer hires property director

Bothwell Exchange developer HFD Group has appointed Michael McDowall as property director.

He joins the firm from London & Scottish Investments, where he spent five years as a senior asset manager based in Glasgow.

McDowall’s 15 years in property includes surveyor roles with FG Burnett and James Barr in the UK and PRD in Australia. The Glasgow Caledonian University graduate has UK-wide experience in lettings, marketing and property and asset management.

Stephen Lewis, managing director of HFD Property Group, said: “HFD remains committed to growing our property development business, despite the impact of Covid-19. We believe there will be opportunities around what many are describing as the ‘new normal’ and we are well-placed to capture them – our touch-free enhancements to 177 Bothwell Street are just one example of that in practice.

“Michael has a great track record in property and will play a key role in supporting the sustainability of our developments, as well as the continued expansion of our serviced-office business. He is a great addition to our team at an important time.”

HFD’s Bothwell Exchange project includes 177 Bothwell Street in Glasgow, which will become home to Virgin Money in summer 2021. It has also developed the Fortis Data Centre at Chapelhall in Lanarkshire.

McDowall added: “HFD Property Group is a well-known name and is working on some highly exciting projects, with an eye on the future in its commitments to sustainability and the use of technology. In my new role, I look forward to working with the HFD team, our occupiers, and the wider business community in Scotland and beyond.”
