Man wanted in fatal shooting at Perris park is captured – Press-Enterprise

The man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Perris park was arrested early Saturday, Feb. 15, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Investigators believe that Renato Ivan Sanchez, 38, was responsible for the slaying of Jose Eduardo Bellozo, 25, of Perris on Wednesday at Paragon Park on Spectacular Bid Street.

The Sheriff’s Department, in its Twitter message announcing the capture, did not say how Sanchez was captured. Reports on social media said deputies surrounded a house in the area of Water and Redlands avenues in Perris late Friday and fired tear gas canisters into the residence. Some residents also reported hearing gunfire.

Sanchez was arrested at 2:06 a.m. Saturday on Water Avenue and booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside at 8:28 a.m. on suspicion of murder, according to the county jail log. He was being held without bail.

Bellozo was scheduled to surrender Feb. 28 to begin serving sentences for convictions on charges of resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer and driving under the influence of alcohol while causing great bodily injury.
