MotoGP 2019 continues today with the best motorbike riders in the world about to lock horns during the Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona.

Going into this round Repsol Honda star Marc Marquez leads the championship battle from Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso.

Marquez extended his lead over Dovi last time out following an exhilarating race in Mugello.

Danilo Petrucci secured his first ever MotoGP win in Italy, finishing just 0.043 seconds ahead of Marquez with the top four separated by half a second.

Speaking after his maiden win, Petrucci said: “It’s amazing, I’m thrilled.

“In front of my home crowd and in my town, it’s incredible, I can’t describe how I feel.

“I’ve achieved my aim for this year which was to win a race, now we have to win the championship with Ducati.”

While Marquez, who had started that race on pole, said: “When I saw at the start that I couldn’t pull clear I said to myself ‘today isn’t the day’.

“I decided to ride defensively and I’m happy with the 20 points.”
