No need to panic, adequate LPG cylinders available: Indian Oil

KOLKATA: LPG Cylinder bookings in West Bengal shot up almost 50% after the 21-day lock down was announced on Tuesday.

“On a normal day IndianOil (IOCL) receives an average 2.4 lakh bookings for refilled cylinders. This shot up to almost 3.5 per day following announcement of the lockdown. Earlier, consumers with double LPG cylinder used to wait at least a week or more before ordering refills. However, panic seems to have taken over and they are booking refills as soon as a cylinder exhaust. This has been exerting tremendous pressure on the delivery chain and we are having a hard time trying to cater to demand,” a senior IOCL executive said.

“It is reiterated that adequate stocks of LPG are available in Kolkata & across the state and there is no need for panic-booking by LPG customers. Indane Delivery personnel are working with all heart and soul despite all the current hardships and customers are requested to stick to safety advisories and not resort to panic purchasing of Indane Cylinders,” he said.

To meet the rising demand for LPG, Indian Oil has taken all steps to increase LPG production at its major refineries by optimising operations and improving LPG yield in LPG producing units. All the LPG Bottling plant operations and LPG refill deliveries of IndianOil in West Bengal are also being streamlined accordingly.

“In these trying times, Indian Oil is committed to ensuring uninterrupted LPG supplies and IndianOil’s LPG bottling plants in West Bengal at Budge Budge, Kalyani, Durgapur, Siliguri and Malda and LPG distributorships have been advised to operate under the advisory of the state governments and local administrations to maintain essential services in their geographies,” it said in a statement.

LPG Customers are requested to resort to digital means of booking cylinders in order to avoid physical rush for the same as the online booking system is operational. To book an Indane cylinder through IVRS customers may call 9088324365 in West Bengal or through the IndianOil One App on android/iOS.
