Not yet state pension age? How to check if you can still get a free bus pass

Now, the age at which a person can claim the state pension whatever their sex is continuing to rise, with it set to reach age 66 in October 2020 ahead of further increases to 67 and further plans for 68.

Currently, in some areas of the UK, the age at which a person can apply for an older person’s bus pass is dependent on the state pension age for women.

In England, a person can get a bus pass for free travel when they reach the female state pension age, and this is regardless of whether they’re a man or woman.

Those who live in London can travel for free on buses, tubes, and other forms of public transport once they’re 60, however this is only within London.
