Now you can lock your SBI Net banking access to prevent frauds

With Internet banking frauds increasing every day, the country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) has launched a new feature where a customer can lock his/her Net banking access and unlock it when needed. When a person locks his/her Net banking account, it will be disabled as if the user never had the Net banking facility.

The ‘onlinesbi’ website of the bank which is primarily used to access the Internet banking facility says, “For better control & security of your account, you can lock or unlock your INB access through link ‘Lock & Unlock User’ available in Home / Login Page.”

According to the website, this facility is available for retail users only. Therefore, corporate users cannot access this facility.

Things to remember before locking your Internet banking access

Before you lock your Internet banking, remember to keep your profile password safely written somewhere. Remember, profile password is different from the login password. It is an additional security password which would have been created by you when you logged in to your Internet banking account for the first time.

The profile password is primarily used to access or make changes in your profile details such as mobile number, adding a third party etc. via Internet banking.

If you have forgotten your profile password, then before locking your Internet banking facility, reset your profile password.

To lock the internet banking facility

Follow the steps below to lock your internet banking access to your SBI account

Step 2: On the website, click on ‘Lock & Unlock User’. A new window will pop-up.
