Ohio superintendent wins national tech communication award – Miami Herald

An Ohio schools superintendent is the first in the state to receive a national award for the creative use of communication technology.

Matt Miller from the Lakota Local School District won this year’s Communication Technology Award for Superintendents for using technology and social media to engage district staff and other education stakeholders.

Miller was hired in 2017 to lead the district and has since made use of Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and a school district blog. He also launched a free laptop distribution and tech training program for students.

The Lakota district in southwest Ohio is the eighth largest in Ohio with more than 16,000 students.

The National School Public Relations Association each year awards a superintendent of a K-12 school district to recognize leadership in expanding technology integration and engagement.
