Plano ISD is one of 31 entities across the country to be awarded a grant from Toyota USA to fund technology projects.

The district will receive more than $155,000 to put toward three projects: online science labs, computer science online textbooks and resources, and a foreign language website subscription, an Oct. 21 press release stated. The funds will also be used to support the district’s virtual learning program through the purchase of more hotspots, cameras and digital software.

The grant, which was awarded to the Plano ISD Education Foundation on behalf of the district, will help the 49% of students who have chosen to learn virtually for the second nine weeks of the semester.

“It speaks volumes of an organization that even as they were impacted themselves by COVID-19, they still turned to others in need and asked, ‘what can we do to help?,’” Jamee Jolly, senior executive director of the foundation, said in the release.
