It is in this evolving context that Queen’s is seeking a Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise to join as a key member of the University Executive Board. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise and will have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the next Institutional Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Postgraduate Strategies. Working across the multidisciplinary research environment of Queen’s, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor will lead on harnessing the University’s academic expertise, world class reputation and impact, to develop Northern Ireland as a region with global ambition and reach.
The successful candidate will have achieved significant international recognition for their research and scholarship and have an established academic track record. With extensive leadership and management experience, and a good understanding of the REF and the challenges and strategic issues facing higher education in the UK, they will engage with research funders, international research institutes and other world-class universities to build partnerships and promote Queen’s reputation for excellence in research and innovation across the world. S/he will be responsible for leading the development and embedding of an ambitious research, enterprise and postgraduate culture across the University.
