Managed cloud services powerhouse Rackspace struck a new partnership with Alert Logic Monday to better secure the Amazon Web Services environments of small and midsize businesses.
The jointly offered AWS Security Review will use Alert Logic tools to assess AWS instances against CIS Foundation benchmarks. After a best-practices evaluation of configurations, identity and access management, logging, networking and monitoring, any critical security or compliance issues will go to Rackspace for remediation.
“We’re trying to help [customers] understand their security posture and how to improve it,” Christopher Rajiah, Alert Logic’s senior vice president of worldwide alliances and partnerships, told CRN.
The managed threat detection software vendor based in Houston secures thousands of AWS customers, Rajiah said, and is leveraging its long-standing status as an advanced partner in the AWS ecosystem with a solution deeply integrated with Amazon’s cloud in offering the new program.
Rackspace channel chief Lisa McLin told CRN the managed cloud provider will then work with Alert Logic to remediate problems and offer customers ongoing support and management to maintain a secure and compliant posture.
“Security is not a one-time, but ongoing practice,” said Rackspace’s vice president of tech alliances.
The AWS-focused service is just a start of their partnership, which will likely extend later to other hyperscalers, McLin said.
The joint offering with Alert Logic should be of benefit to Rackspace’s channel as a “partnership multiplier,” she added.
Solution providers in the Rackspace partner program can get engaged by enlisting Rackspace to assess and then manage their customers’ security posture as they focus on delivering capabilities rooted in their own areas of expertise.
“Our channel partners might have SD-WAN or hardware or security as their book of business, and then work with Rackspace on this one aspect while providing those others themselves,” McLin said.
