Edison offers skilled trade career “pathways” for students in areas from manufacturing and engineering, to construction, architecture and design, to digital media, arts, and communications. The goal is to allow students to experience different subject areas before they select one to focus on which could ultimately lay the groundwork for a career in a skilled trade.
Principal Jacob Scott referred to the pathways as the “heartbeat” of the school. While discussing the value of a skilled trade education, 9th grade manufacturing teacher and recruitment coordinator Dan Collins said that job security is often a major selling point for kids.
