Allied Surveyors Scotland has hired former Scotland rugby internationalist Gavin Kerr as a building surveyor nearly a decade after he began his training there.
The 50-cap player joins from SSE Energy Solutions having previously held commercial property roles at Savills and CKD Galbraith.
Kerr, 42, said: “I am thrilled to be back working in commercial property again and I am relishing the challenge of developing a building surveying presence for Allied on Scotland’s east coast.”
Kerr grew up in Berwick-on-Tweed and trained as a mechanical engineer before turning pro as a rugby player.
He played as a prop forward for Sale Sharks, Leeds, Borders Reivers and Edinburgh before a neck injury forced him to retire in 2010. He did work experience with Allied when he began his training, shortly before deciding to retire from professional rugby.
He will be based in Allied Surveyors ’ Walker Street office in Edinburgh, working with the firm’s east coast commercial agency department launched in April 2018 by Iain Mercer.
Chris Highton, director and vice-chairman of Allied Surveyors Scotland, said: “We helped guide Gavin in his early days of transition from sport to surveying.
“He returns to us with a wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts across the property industry.”
Mercer added: “Gavin’s appointment means we can now provide a vital extension to our range of professional services for our commercial property clients.”
