Should I invest in a single mutual fund scheme or six schemes?

I am 31 years old. I have a moderate to high risk appetite. I want to create a corpus of Rs 1 crore in 15 years. I can invest Rs 30,000 every month. Kindly suggest should I invest Rs 10,000 in three different funds or Rs 5,000 in six funds, or Rs 30,000 in a single fund.

Assuming an annual return of 12%, you can make around Rs 1 crore in 15 years by investing Rs 19,891 every month. However, you should remember that money loses its value over a long period of time. For example, assuming an annual inflation of around 6%, you need around Rs 2.4 crore to achieve a goal of Rs 1 crore after 15 years. This is just to give you an idea about the impact of inflation on future goals. So, always include inflation and taxes in your calculations about long-term goals.

You can invest in one or two flexi cap schemes. You may know flexi cap schemes invest across market capitalisations and sectors based on the outlook of the fund manager. Too many schemes often results in over diversification and portfolio overlap and compromise overall returns.
