Sony Xperia fans could be in for a treat this week with the Japanese technology firm looking set to reveal a new flagship.

Rumours have begun swirling around the web that an Xperia 2 could get a grand unveiling and it wouldn’t be a shock if that speculation became a reality.

Later this week will see the opening of the IFA technology show in Berlin and this has been a favourite event for Sony to show off its next generation of smartphones.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed, a new leak may have revealed exactly what will feature on this new device.

A report from WinFuture suggests the Xperia 2 will include a triple rear camera which now moves to one side of the device rather than the central position found on the current Xperia 1.

It’s thought Sony’s new phone will also get a slightly smaller 6.1-inch screen but the same 21:9 aspect ratio found on its predecessor.

A side-mounted fingerprint scanner, fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 128GB of storage could be included.

Finally, images show how the Xperia 2 could arrive in a swathe of colours including black, blue and a striking red.

We’ll have to wait and see if this rumour is real but there’s not too long to wait with Sony holding its big IFA press conference at 12 pm BST on Thursday, September 5th.

Along with that news, there could be plenty more for tech fans to watch out for this week.

Samsung, LG and Huawei will all be revealing shiny new devices in Germany and we may finally find out when the Galaxy Fold will go on sale.
