Sea Buckthorn is a superfood known as an incredible source of Vitamin C but also used by golf course designers who plant it to stabilize the dunes and provide a wind break on links courses such as St Andrews. It was fed by the ancient Greeks to their horses to give them a shiny coat, hence the name Hippophae from Hippo, the ancient Greek for horse.
The beer is described as having a “natural tartness” with secondary flavours of star fruit, unripe mango and hints of pineapple.
